[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art announced on the 20th that it will operate the social contribution program "2022 Nanum Art Bank," which loans and exhibits artworks from the Art Bank collection free of charge.

This year, Nanum Art Bank will support 10 locations nationwide, including special education facilities, correctional facilities, youth cultural facilities, medical facilities, cultural exhibition facilities, and social contribution facilities.

Depending on the nature of each institution, the Art Bank will operate in two ways: environment creation type, which provides overall exhibition consulting, and exhibition artwork support type. All selected institutions will receive common support including artworks, transportation fees, insurance fees, docent explanations, and exhibition artwork appreciation materials.

The first exhibition for the environment creation type institution began at Seoul Seojin School, a special education facility located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The exhibition, which opened on the 14th, will showcase contemporary artworks that can be linked to observation, experience, and play activities, loaned for one year.

The first exhibition for the exhibition artwork support type institution will start on the 23rd at Geoje Culture and Arts Center. It is scheduled to be held sequentially at Yeosu Expo Site, Iksan Arts Center, and Osan City Museum of Art until November.

Established in 2005, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Art Bank purchases excellent artworks annually through various channels. Currently, the collection amounts to about 4,000 pieces.

Yun Beommo, director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, said, "The Nanum Art Bank project will serve as a bridge to expand cooperation between the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and regional cultural facilities nationwide, contributing to the expansion of opportunities for the public to enjoy art and culture." He added, "We will actively operate and expand this project continuously so that high-quality culture and arts can be enjoyed by anyone in everyday spaces everywhere."
