Selected Projects for the Comprehensive Development Plan of the East Coast Region

Secured 13 Billion KRW in New National and Provincial Funding for 2024

Walking and Running Along the East Coast Sea Breeze... Uljin-gun Opens Coastal Road and Connects Disrupted Sections of Haeparang Trail Trail and Road Construction Project Plans Promoted by Uljin County.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The road map of Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, is being redrawn. A trail and road for walking or running while enjoying the sea breeze will be opened simultaneously.


On the 18th, Uljin-gun announced that its "Giseong~Bongsan Coastal Road Construction Project and Uljin Haeparang-gil Disconnected Section Connection Project" was selected as a new project for 2024 under the 2024 East Coast Development Comprehensive Plan.


This project secured 10 billion KRW in national funding and 3 billion KRW in provincial funding.


This comprehensive plan, prepared to strengthen the competitiveness of the East Coast region, is a statutory plan looking ahead to 2030, aimed at discovering projects that enable cooperation among the three East Coast provinces and cities and seeking win-win development measures. It has been gradually implemented since 2021.


Among the new projects applied for in 2024, two projects submitted by Uljin-gun were recognized as projects that can be promoted in connection and were all selected. It also achieved the result of securing the entire amount of national funding applied for out of the total 20 billion KRW project cost.


The Giseong~Bongsan Coastal Road Construction Project is a project to connect the last disconnected section among the coastal roads in the area to secure road continuity.


The Haeparang-gil Disconnected Section Connection Project is a project to connect sections of the already established Haeparang-gil that were disconnected due to coastal fences and to create trails and nighttime scenery.


By linking and promoting the two projects together, it became possible to revitalize the local economy through establishing a tourism infrastructure framed around East Coast drive travel.


Jung Daegyo, Director of Planning and Budget Office, said, "The selection of this public contest project is the result of the dignified cultural tourism Uljin project that Uljin-gun has been promoting as a key policy," and added, "We will carry out administrative procedures such as basic direction and feasibility review without any setbacks."
