[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lee Gyehwa] The Han River swimming pools, a representative summer getaway spot in downtown Seoul, will open on the 24th. The Han River swimming pools were closed in 2020 and 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Han River Project Headquarters announced on the 15th that six Han River Park swimming pools and water play areas will operate from the 24th until August 21st.

This year, the Ttukseom, Gwangnaru, Yeouido, and Jamwon swimming pools, along with the Yanghwa and Nanji water play areas, will open to welcome citizens. The Mangwon swimming pool will not operate due to performance improvement work at the north end of Seongsan Bridge, and the Jamsil swimming pool will be closed due to the construction of a natural water play area in Jamsil.

The Han River Park swimming pools and water play areas will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The usage fees for swimming pools are 5,000 KRW for adults, 4,000 KRW for teenagers, and 3,000 KRW for children. For water play areas, the fees are 3,000 KRW for adults, 2,000 KRW for teenagers, and 1,000 KRW for children. Children under 6 years old are free when accompanied by a guardian.

When using the Han River Park swimming pools and water play areas, wearing a swimming cap is mandatory to avoid causing inconvenience to others, and swimming equipment such as snorkels and flippers is not allowed.

Additionally, according to government guidelines, masks must be worn when using indoor facilities such as restrooms and stores. Even outdoors, if maintaining a 1-meter distance is difficult and you belong to a high-risk group for COVID-19, wearing a mask is recommended.
