Gwangju Dong-gu 'Resident Participation Budget Project Contest' Extended Until the 24th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 15th that the application period for the '2023 Resident Participatory Budget Project' will be extended until the 24th.


The resident participatory budget is a system in which residents directly propose projects needed in the region and participate in the entire budget process including review and selection, ensuring transparency and reliability in local financial management.


It was promoted to realize transparency in local financial management and improve efficiency by having residents participate in the entire budget process together.


The scale of the resident participatory budget project selection for next year is a total of 1 billion KRW, and projects aimed at improving resident convenience such as resolving resident inconveniences can be proposed.


The proposal fields for current district administration projects are ▲ Autonomous Youth ▲ Welfare Environment ▲ Safe City ▲ Culture and Education, and the project cost is within 50 million KRW per project with no limit on the number of applications.


Any resident of Dong-gu can participate, and after downloading and filling out the project proposal form from the Dong-gu Office website or the mobile app ‘Dudream’, it can be submitted by visiting the Planning and Budget Office of the district office, the Dong Administrative Welfare Center, or by email or fax.


Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “We hope many residents will take interest and participate in the resident participatory budget project contest where they can directly participate in the entire budget process.”
