Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, a subsidiary of KOSDAQ-listed Korea Technology, announced on the 15th that CEO Jang Sewoong visited the new residential-commercial complex construction site in Saengyeon-dong, Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province, on the 14th to conduct a special safety inspection.

This safety inspection was organized to emphasize the importance of safety and quality management, with key executives including CEO Jang Sewoong, HSE Director Lee Junhee, and Construction CM Team Leader Jung Moonsik visiting the site to reaffirm their commitment to safety-first management and achieving ten consecutive years without accidents.

On the day, CEO Jang Sewoong and related personnel checked whether the safety management system was operating normally, inspected the installation and maintenance status of safety facilities, and examined high-risk work areas, thoroughly reviewing the overall site management conditions.

Additionally, the management held a meeting with on-site workers to listen to their grievances, discuss difficulties, and review improvement measures together.

This safety inspection as CEO Jang’s first on-site activity since his appointment last month is interpreted as a declaration of the company’s intention to strengthen safety management.

The company is enhancing its safety management capabilities by introducing an equipment access alarm system (IoT), establishing ten major safety rules, conducting fall prevention campaigns, operating a daily safety construction cycle, expanding and reorganizing the HSE team, and increasing the proportion of full-time safety and health managers.

In particular, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction is accelerating ‘safety management’ by holding daily safety meetings led by the CEO, conducting risk assessments and safety meetings by work type to identify and manage high-risk areas across all sites on the day.

CEO Jang Sewoong of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction stated, “To strengthen safety and quality management, we will frequently communicate with the sites and actively reflect their voices. There will be no compromise when it comes to safety, and we will do our best to achieve zero fatalities for ten years through continuous research on safety management systems.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction held the ‘2022 Safety and Health Policy Pledge Ceremony’ at a construction site in progress to announce its safety and health management policy.
