[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Gijae, the elected mayor of Yangcheon District, attended a meeting with the Mokdong Apartment Reconstruction Union held at Haenuri Town Art Hall at 2 p.m. on the 14th, together with the transition committee.
Lee had already signed a policy agreement for the rapid promotion of reconstruction with the Mokdong Apartment Reconstruction Preparation Committee Union (Chairman Lee Jongheon) on May 25.
Also, on June 8, he met with Won Heeryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to request the prompt relaxation of safety inspection standards for the reconstruction of Mokdong Apartments.
At the meeting, after listening to the on-site opinions related to the reconstruction promotion, Lee said, "Our determination for reconstruction is firm, and through strategic deliberation, we will do our best to improve residents' quality of life and create a pleasant residential environment."
Meanwhile, the Mokdong Apartment Reconstruction Preparation Committee Union is composed of chairpersons of the reconstruction preparation committees for each of the Mokdong New Town Apartments complexes 1 to 14.

Park Gang-su, the elected mayor of Mapo District, spent time on the 14th touring the area from SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong to Seoul Dwight Foreign School with residents of Sangam-dong.
The residents who requested the meeting said, "The stone planters installed in front of SBS Prism Tower plaza and at Guryong Park hinder the plaza's original function as a gathering and communication space for citizens," and requested the removal of movable stone planters and trees that spoil the aesthetics and obstruct passage.
Mayor Park said, "We will carefully review whether the movable stone planters and others hinder the function of the plaza or cause budget waste, and regenerate the area into a communication space full of youth."
The residents also added, "Although there are many office buildings in Sangam-dong, there is a lack of smoking booths that can protect both smokers and non-smokers," and further requested the installation of such booths.
