[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The Democratic Party of Korea has launched the 'Minsheng Priority Action Group' to focus on livelihood issues and formed task forces (TF) for each issue.

On the afternoon of the 14th, the Democratic Party held the inauguration ceremony of the Minsheng Priority Action Group at the National Assembly and announced its future activity plans. On this day, Emergency Response Committee Chairman Woo Sang-ho explained, "The action group launching today is the first step toward becoming a competent livelihood party," adding, "We will start with urgent issues such as prices and the Cargo Solidarity and prepare comprehensive measures."

The Minsheng Priority Action Group is led by Floor Leader Park Hong-geun as the head, with Policy Committee Chairman Kim Sung-hwan serving as deputy head. Lee Hak-young, Senior Vice Chairman of the Minsheng Joint Conference, also serves as deputy head. In addition, it is composed of six teams: Price Stabilization Measures Team (led by Kim Sung-hwan), COVID-19 Damage Support Team (led by Lee Hak-young), Household Debt Measures Team (led by Song Ki-heon), Cargo Workers' Right to Survival Protection Team (led by Jin Sung-jun), Introduction of Delivery Price Linkage System Team (led by Song Gap-seok), and Disability Rights Protection Team (led by Park Chan-dae).

Chairman Woo urged, "I also ask the Democratic Party members. After soothing the aftermath of the local election defeat and amid busy evaluation discussions for various new second-half organizational activities, I ask you to participate in and work together with our Minsheng Priority Action Group based on the great principle of prioritizing livelihood."

He also said, "To resolve the most urgent issue of the Cargo Solidarity strike, I urgently propose a four-person meeting consisting of the heads of the ruling and opposition parties and the floor leaders of both sides," urging the People Power Party side to respond, "It is necessary for the ruling and opposition parties to put their heads together, discuss, and reach a conclusion to stop the strike and prevent a new common people's economic crisis such as a logistics disruption."

Floor Leader Park Hong-geun also emphasized, "We will fulfill the responsibility of the largest party in the National Assembly," and "We will focus our party's efforts on addressing livelihood issues."

Floor Leader Park stated, "We will select and promote necessary legislation and policy improvement tasks through on-site visits and meetings," adding, "If we can alleviate the difficulties of the people even a little, we will act quickly." The Democratic Party floor leader group and the Policy Committee plan to visit a large supermarket in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, tomorrow morning to inspect the site and gauge public sentiment.
