According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency on the 14th, at around 11 p.m. on the 12th, a man in his 20s, Mr. A, set fire to the third-floor restroom of the dormitory at Busan University of Foreign Studies located in Namsan-dong, Geumjeong-gu.
After setting the fire, Mr. A extinguished it himself with a fire extinguisher, so there was no major damage, but about 900 residents of the dormitory were evacuated due to the fire.
The police confirmed the incident through CCTV and urgently arrested Mr. A on charges of arson of an occupied building, and are investigating the motive behind the crime.

At around 3:48 a.m. on the 14th, a fire broke out at a colatech in Nampo-dong, Jung-gu, Busan.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency stated that the colatech owner, a man in his 70s named Mr. A, was seriously injured in the fire and was transported to the hospital. The police are investigating the cause of the fire, including whether it was arson, based on Mr. A.
On the 12th, there was also an attempted arson incident at the Daegyo Police Substation in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, where a suspect tried to set fire out of resentment against the police but was stopped.
