[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Hyundai Heavy Industries Group 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 14th that it will provide 300 million KRW in sponsorship funds through the single-parent and multicultural family support public project 'Dahamtge'.
Last month, the foundation, together with the Korea Healthy Family Promotion Agency, publicly recruited support institutions and selected 18 institutions nationwide supporting single-parent and multicultural families in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, and Jeolla regions by evaluating the expected effects and appropriateness of the projects, and delivered sponsorship funds.
The sponsorship funds will be used for establishing facilities for visitation exchanges for single-parent families, emotional stability of children from multicultural families, and educational support projects for social adaptation.
Lee Hogun, director of Bupyeong-gu Healthy Family Support Center, selected through the public recruitment, said, "Until now, the visitation exchange space for single-parent families was limited and caused many difficulties," adding, "We are glad to be able to provide clean and good facilities with the foundation's help."
The foundation was established by Hyundai Heavy Industries Group employees who agreed to donate 1% of their salaries. Last year, it provided 200 million KRW in sponsorship funds to eight institutions in the metropolitan area and regions, supporting education and treatment program operations, academic achievement, and employment competency enhancement.
