SK C&C Supplies AI Brain Hemorrhage Imaging Medical Solution to 11 General Hospitals

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The artificial intelligence (AI) brain hemorrhage imaging medical solution developed by SK㈜ C&C is being introduced one after another in major general hospitals in Korea following public medical institutions.

On the 14th, SK C&C announced that it will supply the AI brain hemorrhage imaging medical solution ‘Medical Insight+ Brain Hemorrhage’ to 11 major general hospitals nationwide participating in the government-led ‘Doctor Answer Clinic’ project.

The Doctor Answer Clinic project is a program led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) that verifies the safety and effectiveness of medical AI solutions by applying them in actual clinical settings and supports the practical use of medical AI. Only medical AI solutions approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety can participate in the project.

Accordingly, ‘Medical Insight+ Brain Hemorrhage’ will be supplied to major regional general hospitals nationwide, including ▲ Seoul region (Korea University Anam Hospital, Korea University Guro Hospital) ▲ Gyeonggi region (Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Ajou University Hospital, Bundang CHA Hospital) ▲ Incheon region (Inha University Hospital) ▲ Daegu-Gyeongbuk region (Kyungpook National University Hospital, Daegu Good Morning Hospital) ▲ Jeonbuk region (Wonkwang University Hospital) ▲ Busan region (Pusan National University Hospital, Gwanghye Hospital).

SK C&C supports medical staff in regional general hospitals’ ▲ Radiology ▲ Emergency Medicine ▲ Health Screening Centers to use Medical Insight+ Brain Hemorrhage to provide timely treatment without missing the golden time.

‘Medical Insight+ Brain Hemorrhage’ analyzes brain CT images within seconds and immediately informs medical staff of the hemorrhage location and abnormalities with over 97% accuracy. It interprets even small and subtle hemorrhages that are easy to miss at the level of a neuro-radiology specialist. In August last year, it became the first AI brain hemorrhage diagnostic medical device in Korea to receive Class 3 medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Yoon Dongjun, Head of SK C&C Healthcare Group, said, "We will support the ability to experience the effectiveness of ‘Medical Insight+ Brain Hemorrhage’ in actual medical settings," adding, "We plan to expand development to AI models capable of interpreting a wide range of cerebrovascular diseases including brain aneurysms and cerebral infarctions as well as brain hemorrhages."
