Yeongyang-gun Holds Tasting and Evaluation Meeting for 'Eumsikdimibang Japchae Rice Lunchbox and Tea Products' Development Yeongyang-gun held a tasting and evaluation event for Dosirak based on Eumsikdimibang and tea products at the Jang Gye-hyang Cultural Experience Education Center.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Yeongyang County, Gyeongbuk, held a tasting and evaluation meeting for the development of ‘Eumsikdimibang Lunchbox and Tea Snack Products’ on June 10 at the Jang Gye-hyang Cultural Experience Education Center, attended by about 50 people including members of the Jang Gye-hyang Memorial Association Research Group, the Eumsikdimibang Preservation Society, related public officials, and representatives of the executing companies.

The ‘Eumsikdimibang Lunchbox and Tea Snack Product Development Service’ is part of the ‘3 Major Cultural Zone Infrastructure Activation Support Project,’ a national and provincial government-funded project secured by Yeongyang County in November 2021, carried out by the Yeongyang Festival Tourism Foundation and the Korea Food Culture Research Institute.

This project was conducted with the goal of responding to the rapidly changing dining industry and seeking new avenues to expand the base and raise awareness of Eumsikdimibang, the first Korean-language cookbook.

Through this project, products such as japchae rice lunchboxes using Eumsikdimibang recipes, tea snack sets (baksan, yugwa, dasik), and customized sauces utilizing local specialties like Yeongyang’s wild mountain vegetables were developed. The products are scheduled to be launched after brand design development and marketing content production, starting from September this year.

Oh Do-chang, the governor of Yeongyang County, said, “We will do our best to promote the project so that it can publicize ‘Eumsikdimibang,’ a regional traditional cultural asset, and contribute to the revitalization of local tourism and economy.” He added, “We expect this event to be an opportunity to popularize ‘Eumsikdimibang’ and firmly establish its status as a representative traditional and healthy Korean food.”

He also emphasized, “Taking a step further, we will nurture ‘Eumsikdimibang,’ the first Korean-language cookbook, into a world-class Korean food brand.”
