Ensuring Transparency and Fairness in Financial Management
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 13th that it operated the ‘Visiting Budget School’ at Goa-eup Administrative Welfare Center.
This ‘Visiting Budget School’ was not held since 2019 due to the impact of COVID-19, but it was held again after 3 years recently following the phased recovery of daily life.
The Resident Participatory Budget School is a session aimed at citizens to increase interest and understanding of the budget operation process and to explain the overall budget.
Especially this year, it plans to operate about six sessions including a youth budget school.
At the Budget School, ▲Understanding local government budgets ▲Concept of the resident participatory budget system ▲Current financial status of our city will be explained in an easy-to-understand manner to guide citizens to directly propose projects needed in the region.
A Gumi City official said, “Direct participation of citizens in the budget formulation process is an important foundation of resident autonomy,” and added, “We hope for active participation from citizens to ensure transparency and fairness in financial management through the resident participatory budget system.”
The ‘Visiting Budget School’ will be held two more times after starting the education on this day, on the 14th at Saemaeul Undong Theme Park and on the 15th at Indong-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
