LG Electronics unveiled an LG OLED TV commercial video featuring the new Star Wars drama on the electronic billboard in New York's Times Square.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG Electronics announced on the 13th that it has unveiled an LG OLED TV commercial video featuring the new Star Wars drama "Obi-Wan Kenobi" on the Times Square billboard in New York, USA.
The video ends with the main character Darth Vader appearing from a spaceship, swinging a vivid lightsaber, then disappearing, followed by the phrase "See it with OLED.”
Previously, LG Electronics collaborated with Lucasfilm, the producer of the Star Wars series, to launch the LG OLED Evo Star Wars Edition, expanding various customer experiences.
The limited edition product, inspired by the Star Wars "501st Legion," is being sold in a limited quantity of 501 units each in the United States and Germany. In the U.S., after its first reveal on May 26, over 2,600 buyers were on the waiting list within about two weeks, showing high interest. In Germany, it was first unveiled at the SF festival FedCon on June 3, and pre-orders have been ongoing since June 6.
The limited edition product features Star Wars-related designs on both the box and the main body, and includes Star Wars making films and photos. Additionally, the smart TV remote cursor can be changed to a lightsaber, carefully embedding the Star Wars universe throughout the product to enhance its limited edition value.
An LG Electronics official explained, "LG OLED TV, with its self-emissive advantage of emitting light on its own, can express an almost infinite contrast ratio, making it optimal for watching the Star Wars series set against the dark space background or movies where delicate color expression is important."
