[Asia Economy (Seoul) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, the governor-elect of Gyeonggi Province, proposed having a three-way meeting soon at a pub where ordinary citizens gather with Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, and Yoo Jeong-bok, the mayor-elect of Incheon.
On the 13th at around 11 a.m., Kim held his first meeting with Mayor Oh in the Seoul mayor’s office and emphasized active cooperation, saying, "There is no significance in party lines or camps when it comes to improving the quality of life for metropolitan citizens," and promised to arrange a pub gathering soon.
At the meeting, Kim said, "There are many issues that need to be addressed on a metropolitan scale, including Gyeonggi Province, Seoul, and Incheon," adding, "I hope we can cooperate to raise the quality of life for Seoul citizens and Gyeonggi residents to the next level."
He continued, "Once I take charge of the provincial government, I will have frank and honest conversations with the Seoul mayor, cooperate with each other, make concessions where necessary, and do my best so that Gyeonggi residents and Seoul citizens can both win," promising, "I will also create an opportunity for a three-way discussion with Incheon."
Mayor Oh responded, "There are many important policies that Gyeonggi and Seoul need to prepare and implement together, such as housing, transportation, and various environmental issues," and said, "I think it is necessary to promptly establish a discussion body like a tripartite consultative group involving Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon."
After the meeting with Mayor Oh, Kim will meet Yoo Jeong-bok at the Incheon mayoral transition committee office located in Songdo G Tower, Incheon, in the afternoon. He will then hold a meeting with Park Nam-chun, the mayor of Incheon, in the Incheon mayor’s office.
That day’s series of meetings among metropolitan area leaders was at Kim’s request. Kim has been pursuing a cooperative approach regardless of party lines, having previously met with former Gyeonggi governors Nam Kyung-pil and Lee Jae-myung on the 8th.
