Recruitment of Candidates for Namgu Citizen Award, "Model for All," in Namgu, Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is recruiting candidates for the Nam-gu Citizen Award, serving as a model for 220,000 residents, in celebration of its 27th anniversary since establishment.

On the 13th, Nam-gu announced, "To honor residents who have continuously served for the development of district administration and the local community and have elevated the honor of Nam-gu, we are accepting nominations for award candidates in five categories: Social Service, Filial Piety, Culture·Arts·Sports, Community Development, and Education."

Eligibility for candidates requires residents who have lived in Nam-gu for more than three years and meet the criteria for each category.

First, in the Social Service category, candidates are those who have shown clear dedication to practicing neighborly love and contributed to creating a better community through a strong spirit of volunteerism.

In the Filial Piety category, candidates are residents who exemplify ethics, manners, and morals based on the Confucian value of respect for elders. In the Culture·Arts·Sports category, candidates are those who have contributed to enhancing residents' cultural welfare through the inheritance of traditional culture and the development of arts or have brought honor to the region through the promotion of sports.

Additionally, in the Community Development category, candidates are those who have contributed to industrial development through business activities or helped create a pleasant and healthy urban environment. In the Education category, candidates are those who have contributed to nurturing talent and the development of the cultural education special zone.

To recommend award candidates, a recommendation letter from the district mayor, heads of the 17 neighborhoods, or leaders of various institutions and social organizations is required. Alternatively, a recommendation can be substituted by the consent of more than 30 local residents.

Nam-gu plans to accept nominations until July 18, review candidate disqualifications and achievements, and finalize the awardees for each category in early August.

A plaque will be awarded to the winners in each category at the 27th Anniversary Nam-gu Citizens' Day ceremony, and if no suitable candidate is found, the award will be omitted.
