Dads Holding Cooking Spoons... Yeongju City's '30-In Dad Group' Leading Work-Family Balance Culture

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Thirty fathers picked up cooking spoons. Although their skills in spreading jam on nuts and making egg tarts looked a bit clumsy, the “taste of dad” was the best!

Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk, operated the June cooking class program for the “3rd MOMpyeonhan 30 Dads Group” on the 11th at the Gyeongbuk Professional College cooking room.

This cooking class program, aimed at spreading a work-family balance culture and revitalizing father childcare, followed the strawberry harvesting experience program in May and was conducted as a time for fathers and children to make tarts together using nuts, which are good for children’s brain activity.

Mr. Kim (41), a father who participated in the program, said, “It was an enjoyable time where children could develop creativity and feel a sense of accomplishment by cooking themselves,” and added, “I will continue to strive to be a friendly dad who communicates with my child.”

The “3rd Dads Group,” which held its launch ceremony in April, plans to share happy times with fathers and children through various programs such as parent education and play activities every month until the end of the year.

Kim Myung-ja, head of the Child and Youth Division, said, “Through the activities of the MOMpyeonhan 30 Dads Group, children are forming close bonds with their fathers, leading to the spread of an organizational culture that balances work and family,” and added, “I hope more fathers will practice childcare at home, establishing a healthy parenting culture.”
