The 119 dispatch guide line, installed for the first time in Gyeongnam, was established through the collaboration of the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, Yangsan Fire Station, and LH Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters to shorten the arrival time at apartment complexes or disaster sites.
According to the Fire Headquarters, large-scale apartment complexes have had complicated and diverse layouts depending on the period and architect, making rapid dispatch to disaster sites difficult.
Since the guide signs within the complexes vary slightly by complex and are sometimes obscured by street trees, it was difficult to quickly identify the building direction when fire trucks were dispatched.
Known as the golden time, which secures the minimum time after an accident during which surgery or similar treatment must be performed to determine the survival of the person in need, the 119 dispatch guide line was created to secure this critical period.
The guide line is marked on the pavement of the fire truck access roads at apartment complex entrances with pink and blue paint, helping fire trucks to dispatch quickly regardless of day or night.
Director Kim Jong-geun said, “Securing the golden time at disaster sites will reduce illegal parking and double parking,” and added, “I hope the guide line indicating the fire truck access route will become a line of reassurance not only for fire trucks but also for citizens.”
