Shinhan Card Creates Second 'Eco Zone' at Busan APEC Naru Park

Shinhan Card Deep Eco Points and Donations... Continuous Expansion of Customized Eco Zones by Region

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Shinhan Card announced on the 9th that it has created its second Eco Zone at Busan APEC Naru Park in Haeundae-gu, Busan, in collaboration with Busan Green Trust. Busan Green Trust is a public-private governance organization that participates in Busan City's green projects and aims for a public participatory green movement.

The Eco Zone is a sustainable environmental, social, and governance (ESG) project by Shinhan Card that creates parks in urban areas using 'ECO Donation Points' accumulated by green consumers who practice eco-friendly living by using Shinhan Card Deep ECO, along with the 'Green Campaign Fund' donated by Shinhan Card.

According to Shinhan Card, by the end of last year, more than 160 million ECO Donation Points had been donated, which were used to create the first Eco Zone, 'Our Flower Path,' at Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, last year.

The newly opened second Eco Zone is themed 'Promise Garden,' pledging to overcome the climate crisis and preserve biodiversity for future generations. It features a carbon-neutral practice walking trail, insect feeding garden, biological resting garden, and insect hotel within approximately 1,600㎡. In particular, considering the space's proximity to the lower reaches of the Suyeong River, it was designed to function as a habitat and migration corridor for various species.

Shinhan Card plans to continuously create Eco Zones tailored to the needs of each region, establishing a model for eco-friendly park management. A Shinhan Card official stated, "We expect Shinhan Card’s Eco Zone project to establish itself as a model for eco-friendly urban park regeneration and park management suitable for a green life for future generations."
