[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] What? Tearing off airplane seat covers and launching 'new products'?
Air Busan is introducing new upcycling products in collaboration with the upcycling specialist brand 'Overlap' to celebrate Environment Month in June.
Air Busan sells slippers and travel pouches made from airplane seat covers and paragliders on its online store 'Shop Air Busan'.
The newly launched 'slippers' are made using airplane seat covers that were scheduled for disposal. The 'travel pouches' are made from paragliders collected by the partner company Overlap.
Air Busan sells these new products as a set.
Air Busan's eco-friendly management is attracting attention.
Air Busan contributes to reducing carbon emissions by using the eco-friendly aircraft 'A321neo', which has higher fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions than other airplanes.
They actively participate in carbon neutrality by practicing fuel savings through the development and operation of shortened domestic and international routes.
Recently, Air Busan increased awareness of environmental preservation by conducting volunteer activities such as trash picking around Gwangalli Beach.
Air Busan is expanding its eco-friendly activities by selling upcycled products onboard, such as 'keyrings' made from discarded flight attendant carry-on bags and surfwear, and 'eco-friendly tumblers' made from coffee bean husks.
An Air Busan official said, "Focusing on practicality, the slippers and travel pouches made from repurposed waste are expected to support passengers with convenient and comfortable travel," adding, "We plan to carry out various eco-friendly activities including eco-friendly flight operations, launching upcycling products, and environmental cleanup activities."
The online store 'Shop Air Busan', which sells Air Busan logo products, offers various logo items such as △magnets △badges △keyrings designed based on Air Busan's uniforms and airline tickets.
