Following Her Husband, Speech Flows Smoothly... Uljin-gun Family Center Holds Korean Speaking Contest for Marriage Immigrants

Winners of the Korean Speaking Contest for Marriage Immigrants held in Uljin are celebrating after receiving their awards.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] A competition showcasing Korean language skills among marriage immigrants living in Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, was held.

On the 4th, the Uljin-gun Family Center held the "My Own Story Marriage Immigrant Korean Speaking Contest" at the Uljin-gun Lifelong Learning Center for marriage immigrants.

This event was conducted as part of the "Gyeongbuk Social Welfare Community Chest Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Designated Donation Project." Eight participants who received education through the "Korean Language Class" and "Visiting Education Service" operated by the Uljin-gun Family Center showcased their Korean skills.

About 50 family members of marriage immigrants attended the event, where Jeon Chan-geol, Uljin-gun Governor, Hwang Cheon-ho, Director of Uljin Regional Self-Support Center, and Won Sang-woo, President of the Multicultural Family Association, encouraged the participants.

The grand prize was awarded to Ms. Letibon (Vietnam) for her fluent Korean, the runner-up prize to Ms. Leti Thieu Ngoc (Vietnam), the consolation prize to Ms. Pham Thi Hoa (Vietnam), and the encouragement prizes to Ms. Tran Thi Han Duan (Vietnam) and Ms. Kim Lea (Cambodia), respectively.

Lee Jang-chul, Director of the Uljin-gun Family Center, said, "I was amazed by the presenters' Korean language skills, and I felt warm family love in the way not only the presenters but also their families worked hard and participated together," adding, "I once again realized the importance of the Family Center's role in helping them adapt to life in Korea."
