[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Cultural Heritage Administration's Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters will operate the Joseon Royal Tombs Travel Program "Wangneungcheon(千)haeng" a total of 23 times from the 13th of this month to November 7th, at the Joseon royal tombs, palaces, and regional cultural resources.
"Wangneungcheon(千)haeng" is a program that explores the Joseon royal tombs, palaces, and regional cultural resources in connection with a professional guide for one day. The Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters is attempting this for the first time this year to allow visitors to tour the Joseon royal tombs in various ways.
The program is operated under five themes: ▲"Yeongjo's Path" (Goyang Seooreung, Paju Soryeongwon), which contains the love of the royal family ▲"Danjong's Path" (Yeongwol Jangneung, Cheongnyeongpo, Gwanpunghun), which contains longing ▲"Jeongjo's Path" (Changgyeonggung·Changdeokgung, Hwaseong Yunggeolleung), which depicts Sadong ▲"The King's Forest Path" (Guri Donggureung), which contains eternity ▲"The Path of the King and Emperor" (Namyangju Gwangneung, Hongyureung), which is in the midst of a whirlpool. Along with stories about each tomb owner, various performances combining sound meditation and traditional and Western musical instruments will be held in the lush summer royal tomb forests.
The first phase of "Wangneungcheon(千)haeng," held from June to July, includes a total of 8 sessions: ▲"Yeongjo's Path" (June 13 / July 11) ▲"Danjong's Path" (June 18 / July 2) ▲"Jeongjo's Path" (June 20 / June 27) ▲"The King's Forest Path" (June 25) ▲"The Path of the King and Emperor" (July 4). The second phase of "Wangneungcheon(千)haeng," held after August, will also run 15 sessions with the same program. Notably, the first event, Yeongjo's Path (June 13), will feature historian Professor Shin Byung-joo, known for appearing on KBS1's history program "History Journal That Day," as a storyteller.
The number of participants is limited to 20 or a maximum of 40 per session. Up to 4 people can apply per person. Applications for the first half of the year’s program can be made online from June 7th for each program.
