Busan City Ensures Jagalchi Market Safety with 5G... Secures 1.6 Billion KRW in National Funding for '5G-Based Digital Twin Safety Demonstration Project'

Busan City Ensures Jagalchi Market Safety with 5G... Secures 1.6 Billion KRW in National Funding for '5G-Based Digital Twin Safety Demonstration Project' Busan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City has been selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's public project, the '2022 5G-based Digital Twin Facility Safety Demonstration Project,' and will invest a total of 2 billion KRW, including 1.6 billion KRW in national funding, into the safety management of Jagalchi Market.

The project is a demonstration initiative for safety management of public facilities owned by the government and local governments using 5G-based digital twin technology.

The '5G-based Digital Twin Facility Safety Demonstration Project' is led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and supported by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).

Digital twin technology creates an environment identical to the real world by organically linking virtual space with artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, virtual simulation, 3D modeling, and other 5G-based new technologies.

The city formed a consortium consisting only of Busan-based companies and institutions such as Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, Samwoo Immersion, Neotek, and Busan Facilities Corporation, and after competing with large corporations and companies from the Seoul metropolitan area, was finally selected as the project operator, securing 1.6 billion KRW in national funding.

The project promoted through the public contest is 'Development and Demonstration of an Integrated Safety Monitoring Platform for Jagalchi Market through 5G and Digital Twin-based New Technology Convergence and Distributed Data Management,' with a total investment of 2 billion KRW by the end of this year.

The detailed tasks include four areas: ▲5G-based seawater quality and air quality measurement and analysis service ▲fire response simulation ▲3D digital twin modeling ▲real-time integrated control service.

Specifically, the 5G-based seawater quality and air quality measurement and analysis service collects real-time data on seawater inflow and air pollution at Jagalchi Market using Internet of Things (IoT) devices, analyzes big data, and automatically manages and controls the water intake and air conditioning systems.

The fire response simulation provides the optimal escape route using artificial intelligence algorithms during a fire, and secures compatibility through international standard 3D modeling and data construction.

Finally, a cloud data server-based convergence service for data collection and integrated management will establish a real-time integrated control service including real-time data synchronization.

Lee Jun-seung, Director of Digital Economic Innovation at Busan City, said, “This project is expected to help prevent large-scale disasters and accidents caused by the aging of Jagalchi Market, which has a large floating population, while attracting more visitors and revitalizing the local economy. We will actively participate in various government public projects and work together to help Busan’s information and communication companies grow.”
