Symptoms of Fracture and Cerebral Hemorrhage
Scheduled to Transfer to Seoul Police Agency Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A 50-day-old baby showing symptoms of fractures and brain hemorrhage is under police investigation for possible abuse.
According to the police on the 3rd, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul received a report of suspected abuse from the attending physician on the afternoon of the 31st of last month, stating that "a 50-day-old baby was found to have symptoms of brain hemorrhage and a fracture in the right wrist."
It was confirmed that the baby, after birth, was staying with the parents at a postpartum care center and was hospitalized on the 13th of last month due to fever symptoms.
At that time, the attending physician reportedly discovered circumstances suspicious of abuse during the process of conducting an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and reported it to the police. The police plan to summon the parents and the attending physician soon for investigation, considering the possibility of abuse and neglect.
A police official stated, "In cases of child abuse involving children under 10 years old, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducts the investigation," and added, "The case is scheduled to be transferred today."
