[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Park] Animal rights groups have called for an investigation after suspected animal abuse occurred, with animals struggling to run on treadmills while tied with ropes late at night.

According to the animal rights revolution group 'Catch Dog Team' on the 3rd, a passerby discovered a dog tied with a rope running on a treadmill at a breeding facility in Suseong-gu, Daegu, past midnight on the 1st, and reported it to the local district office.

Witness A explained on Instagram, "It was a place brightly lit like broad daylight past midnight, and I saw a dog struggling to run on a treadmill in front of a man. The dog was tied with a rope so it couldn't jump off." He added, "In front of the treadmill, a young-looking cat was confined in a small cage like a birdcage, exhausted and collapsed."

A continued, "One of the citizens walking along the trail said, 'This place has been here for a very long time, and there have been multiple reports. I realized it because the dogs cry and scream so sadly both morning and night.'" He also added, "There are two elementary schools within 2 km nearby, and livestock breeding is restricted in this area."
