Angel Robotics Co., Ltd. (CEO Gong Kyung-cheol), a specialist company in rehabilitation and healthcare wearable robots, announced that its domestically produced gait rehabilitation robot AngelX M has begun targeting overseas markets, starting with Malaysia.
Angel Robotics started distributing AngelX M on May 27 at Daehan Rehabilitation Hospital Putrajaya, a Korean-style rehabilitation hospital located in Putrajaya, Malaysia (Chief Director Kim Dong-soo), and signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the medical school UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA) in Malaysia.
Since last year, Angel Robotics has been strengthening its global capabilities with a phased overseas expansion plan to enter the ASEAN market using AngelX M as a base, having obtained Malaysian medical device certification for the gait rehabilitation robot AngelX M as part of the Pan-Ministerial Full-Cycle Medical Device R&D Project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. One year after signing the MOU with Daehan Rehabilitation Hospital Putrajaya (Chief Director Kim Dong-soo), the domestically produced gait rehabilitation robot AngelX M has successfully made its first overseas entry, and through the 2022 MOA with UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA), plans to expand into the entire ASEAN market.
The MOA event began with greetings from Vice President Fozi and Dean Fazah of the UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA) medical school, followed by participation from Angel Robotics’ Chief Business Officer Director Na Dong-wook (Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Yonsei University College of Medicine), Chief Director Kim Dong-soo of Daehan Rehabilitation Hospital, and Minister-Counselor Lim Chae-wook of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia. The event included a demonstration of the gait rehabilitation robot AngelX M and was conducted amid enthusiastic coverage by Malaysian public broadcasting and various media outlets.
In addition to the MOA event, Angel Robotics plans to dispatch a specialized team including engineers, quality teams, and professional physical therapists to support localization of the product and training of local medical staff to help them become familiar with the use of AngelX M.
Director Na Dong-wook, Chief Business Officer of Angel Robotics and Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Yonsei University College of Medicine, expressed his ambition, stating, “With the introduction of AngelX M at Daehan Rehabilitation Hospital in Malaysia, we have laid the foundation for ASEAN market entry. Based on this, we will accelerate global expansion through entry into Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as obtaining CE and FDA certifications in the future.”
