Lotte Mart Launches Price-Stable Assorted Tuna Sashimi... Over 40% Cheaper Than Market Price

Models are introducing the price-stabilized assorted tuna sashimi at Lotte Mart Zeta Plex Jamsil branch in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Mart announced on the 1st that it will hold an event selling assorted tuna sashimi at a discounted price until the 8th to stabilize national prices.

The price-stabilized assorted tuna sashimi consists of premium yellowfin tuna belly and lean meat, and is sold at a price more than 40% lower than the current market price.

To lead the effort in stabilizing food prices, Lotte Mart pre-contracted 10 tons of yellowfin tuna caught by Dongwon Industries at the source to reduce costs. By directly importing the tuna, which requires ultra-low temperature freezing storage, into Korea for processing and minimizing storage costs, distribution margins were reduced.

The tuna sashimi sold this time uses yellowfin tuna caught through sustainable fishing methods to ensure a stable supply of seafood in the future. It is also a responsible seafood product made from raw tuna that has undergone production and distribution processes minimizing environmental impact.

A Lotte Mart official said, “This event was prepared to ease the financial burden on consumers caused by the recent sharp rise in seafood prices,” adding, “We hope it will help stabilize prices in a practical way, even if only a little.”
