[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu is recruiting ‘2022 Summer Vacation University Student Administrative Interns’ from June 3 to June 10.

The district recruits administrative interns twice a year so that university students can directly experience district administration during their vacation period and build economic independence and diverse social experiences.

This summer vacation, a total of 60 students will be recruited. Selected students will be assigned to local facilities such as the district office, public health center, community service centers, and libraries to perform administrative support tasks.

The recruitment targets are university students and students on leave who are registered residents of Songpa-gu as of the announcement date (May 27, 2022), or university students and students on leave attending universities located in Songpa-gu. However, students of remote universities, computer institutes, lifelong education centers, and those who worked as administrative interns during the 2022 winter vacation, 2021 winter and summer vacations, or 2020 summer vacation are excluded.

Among the recruits, 12 people (20%) will be given priority selection from ▲basic livelihood security recipients and their children ▲legally designated lower-income groups and their children ▲registered disabled persons ▲North Korean defectors and their children ▲national merit recipients and their children ▲families with three or more children. Additionally, 2 students (3%) from universities located in Songpa-gu will be selected.

University students wishing to participate as administrative interns can apply online from June 3 to June 10 by referring to the announcement on the Songpa-gu website. The district plans to conduct a public computerized lottery at 2 p.m. on June 13 and announce the final results on the same day at 5 p.m. through the district website.

The working period is from July 4 to August 1, working five days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The allowance is based on the ‘2022 Songpa-gu Living Wage’ at 53,250 KRW per day, with a total of 1,320,000 KRW paid for full attendance.

This summer vacation, the district also plans to operate a ‘District Administration Experience Week’ for university student administrative interns. It will provide opportunities to directly select and experience district administration in fields of interest to the MZ generation such as youth jobs, education, tourism and historic sites, nature, and environment, and actively communicate in SNS spaces. Outstanding interns will be awarded the district mayor’s commendation through a future announcement.
