[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] KH Construction, an affiliate of KH Group, announced on the 31st that it participated in the Joint Countermeasure Committee for Ukraine Reconstruction and Support to discuss public-private cooperation measures.
The Joint Countermeasure Committee for Ukraine Support (JACU) held its first public-private cooperation meeting for emergency relief and reconstruction projects for Ukraine the day before at Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
The meeting was attended by former Ambassador Yang-koo Lee, representatives from KH Construction and domestic companies operating in Eastern Europe, and members of Green Doctors, an international medical volunteer organization that has been providing medical support in Ukraine.
The committee plans to create international public opinion centered on NGOs for emergency relief and establish a detailed master plan for post-war recovery. Since the Ukrainian government has requested full support from the international community in the construction sector, the committee aims to support Korean companies to engage in reconstruction projects mainly in public sectors such as local government offices in Ukraine.
Specifically, the committee will promote ▲humanitarian aid through government coordination ▲New Marshall Plan (reconstruction projects) ▲entry into the Central Asian market through Ukraine reconstruction projects ▲exploration of cooperative relations with Russia and China ▲promotion of cooperation among the four countries: South Korea, North Korea, Russia, and China.
If reconstruction projects are carried out centered on Lviv, a Polish border city, domestic companies are expected to expand their business capabilities to the European region, thus gaining a foothold advantage.
KH Construction, which attended the meeting, decided to maintain continuous interest and cooperative relations for humanitarian cooperation to support Ukraine. The reconstruction projects will be participated in after establishing a detailed master plan for post-war recovery through the Joint Countermeasure Committee. They also plan to participate in fund-raising for Ukraine reconstruction projects.
Kang Jung-sik, CEO of KH Construction, said, "We plan to continue our sustained interest and humanitarian cooperation for Ukraine by participating in the Joint Countermeasure Committee so that the Ukrainian people who have lost their homes can overcome difficulties."
Earlier, on the 11th, KH Construction attended the launch ceremony of medical volunteer support for Ukrainian refugees and the donation ceremony hosted by the Green Doctors Foundation and donated funds.
