The Ceremony of Audience with Emperor Gojong Presented as a Theatrical Play
The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Headquarters and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will hold "The Reception Ceremony for Foreign Envoys of the Korean Empire - Opening the Gate of the Great Han to the World" on the 4th-5th and 11th-12th of next month at Deoksugung Jeonggwanheon and the front yard of Jeukjodang. This event reconstructs the diplomatic situation of the Korean Empire period to showcase a scene from history. The ceremony where foreign envoys had an audience with Emperor Gojong will be performed as a play at Jeonggwanheon. In the front yard of Jeukjodang, a banquet scene featuring a Western-style military band performance and a sword dance (Geommu) will be reenacted. The number of visitors allowed per session is fifty.
