Jin Byeong-yeong, Candidate for Hamyang County Governor, Opens Final Offensive... "With the Power of the Residents, We Defeat the People Power Party"

Unfair? Targeting Ineligible Candidate Nominations

Focused Fire Aimed at Congressman Kim Tae-ho

Jin Byeong-yeong, Candidate for Hamyang County Governor, Opens Final Offensive... "With the Power of the Residents, We Defeat the People Power Party" Candidate Jin Byeong-yeong is campaigning on the market day in Seosang.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jin Byeong-yeong, the candidate for Hamyang County Governor who declared an independent run after being excluded from the People Power Party primary and is stirring up an election wave, has entered a strategy to solidify his lead in the final stages of the election.

Jin Byeong-yeong’s camp analyzed that the tide has somewhat turned after recording a voter turnout of over 40% during the two-day early voting held on the 27th and 28th, and is pouring all efforts into solidifying the lead ahead of the main election scheduled for June 1.

On the morning of the 29th, Jin took to campaigning at the traditional market day in Sasang, criticizing the People Power Party’s candidate nomination and launching a concentrated attack targeting Kim Tae-ho, the local district’s National Assembly member.

During the campaign that day, Jin said, “A few days ago, during the Hamyang market day, the Seo Chun-su candidate’s side must have been so desperate that they thought Kim Tae-ho alone wouldn’t suffice, so they mobilized heavyweights like Lee Jun-seok, the People Power Party leader, Park Wan-soo, the gubernatorial candidate, and former lawmaker Kim Sung-tae to hold support rallies. But these people only poured oil on the fire.”

He shouted, “They seemed to mistakenly believe that targeting me would turn the angry sentiment of our county residents, but instead, they only fueled the anger of the residents even more.”

He also said, “It is probably the first time, regardless of party, that the party leader has come to Hamyang to hold a support rally for a main election rather than a by-election or re-election. Perhaps it is a great honor for our Hamyang County,” and emphasized ironically, “The person who called Lee Jun-seok, the People Power Party leader, to our Hamyang is not Kim Tae-ho or Seo Chun-su, but the Hamyang residents who overwhelmingly support me, Jin Byeong-yeong.”

He questioned, “If Seo Chun-su seemed likely to win easily, would the party leader have mobilized for this election held simultaneously in over 250 counties nationwide?” and praised the voters, saying, “It is the awakened Hamyang residents who called Leader Lee Jun-seok down to our Hamyang.”

Jin’s camp plans to focus on campaigning in Anui Market and Hamyang-eup on the official last day of election campaigning, the 31st, to make a full-scale effort to capture floating votes.
