[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Service Robot Construction Demonstration’ held on the morning of the 30th at the civil service office on the first floor of Gangseo-gu Office, where he demonstrated the civil service guidance robot and inspected the operating system.

Saeromi, the AI civil service guidance robot responsible for building promotion and guidance services, autonomously moves around the civil service office on the first floor of the building to assist visitors.

Notably, it is the first among local governments nationwide to link with the district’s big data system and wireless network, displaying real-time information on COVID-19, traffic, disaster situations, and financial execution on its screen.

Mayor Roh Hyun-song said, “The introduction of this civil service guidance robot is expected not only to improve the quality of civil administrative services but also to provide entertainment for visitors and contribute significantly to creating a friendly Gangseo.” He added, “We will continue to upgrade it to provide more efficient and abundant information to the residents.”

Yangcheon-gu held the ‘Panbreak’ performance at Paris Park (Mok 5-dong 906) on the afternoon of the 28th at 5:30 PM.

The event, commemorating the reopening of Paris Park and the completion of the musical fountain, was organized to offer residents a small opportunity for healing through diverse cultural performances as their journey back to daily life began.

‘Panbreak,’ a comprehensive performance combining jazz, pansori, beatboxing, samulnori, and b-boy performances, took place on the fountain plaza of Paris Park, a landmark of the district, where performers delivered an exciting and passionate show for about 90 minutes.

Geumcheon-gu is conducting a ‘Rural Experience Rice Planting Event’ for 428 elementary students at four elementary schools (Mungyo Elementary, Munseong Elementary, Yeongnam Elementary, Geumcheon Elementary) from May 20 to 30 by linking eco-friendly rice suppliers for school meals with schools applying for the experience activity.

This event was organized to install an eco-friendly ‘rice experience plot’ where students can grow rice directly within the school, allowing them to experience rice planting firsthand to understand how the rice they always eat is produced and to raise awareness of farmers’ hard work and the value of food.

The eco-friendly rice experience plot is a ‘mini rice paddy’ using large rubber pots, where soil and water are placed in the rubber container, rice is planted, and students can manage and observe the growth.

Students will experience the first step of rice production by planting rice themselves, and in autumn, they plan to harvest and mill the rice grown in the experience plot.

Lee Kang-sook, Director of the Education Support Division, said, “Through this experience event, I hope students understand the importance of eco-friendly meals and learn the value of agricultural products while communicating with nature.” She added, “We will continue to support eco-friendly school meals to promote children’s health.”
