[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Shanghai municipal government in China announced on the 29th that it will lift "unreasonable restrictions" to allow companies to resume operations starting from the 1st of next month.

According to major foreign media outlets, Shanghai Vice Mayor Wu Qing stated in a briefing that from Wednesday (June 1), in order to balance COVID-19 control and economic development, the epidemic prevention guidelines and work resumption control guidelines will be revised, and "unreasonable restrictions" on companies' resumption of work and production will be removed.

He also announced that the "white list," which has been the list of companies permitted to resume operations, will be abolished. Shanghai companies have suffered significant damage due to the two-month-long lockdown, and the impact has also affected the global supply chain.
