New Confirmed Cases 12,654...188 Critically Ill, 19 Deaths (Comprehensive)

The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the number of new confirmed cases was 12,654.


The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 1,744 from the previous day (14,398), marking the fourth consecutive day since the 26th with cases in the 10,000 range.


Looking only at the number of new confirmed cases announced on Sundays, this is the lowest figure in 18 weeks since the early Omicron wave on January 30 (17,522 cases).

The number of critically ill patients remained in the 100s for the second consecutive day, decreasing by 8 from the previous day (196) to 188, the lowest since July 19 last year (185).


The number of critically ill patients sharply increased after the Omicron wave at the beginning of this year, peaking at 1,315 on March 31, and has been declining since.


The number of COVID-19 deaths reported the previous day was 19, 17 fewer than the day before (36).


By age group, 10 (52.63%) were aged 80 and above, 6 were in their 70s, and 3 were in their 40s.


The cumulative number of deaths is 24,158, and the cumulative COVID-19 fatality rate is 0.13%.
