[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] On the 28th, a claim was made that a visitor to the election office of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate running for the Incheon Gyeyang-eul seat in the June 1 National Assembly by-election, was assaulted by a conservative-leaning YouTuber.
According to the Incheon Gyeyang Police Station, around 2 p.m. that day, a report was received that a woman in her 60s, Ms. A, had collapsed in front of Lee’s election office in Imhak-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon.
Lee’s campaign team claimed that Ms. A, who had visited and then left the election office that day, was assaulted and injured on the head after covering the camera of the conservative-leaning YouTuber’s side, causing her to collapse. They also reported that on the 23rd, two people, including one campaign worker and one volunteer, were injured due to an assault by the conservative YouTuber’s side.
The police responded to the scene and have confirmed the victim’s personal information for now. Ms. A was transported to a nearby hospital by the 119 emergency medical team, who responded to a joint request from the police. A police official stated, "The perpetrator has not been identified yet, and we plan to verify the facts."
