[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Hyundai Electric undertook a coastal environmental cleanup activity on the 28th to preserve marine ecosystems and biodiversity.
About 80 Hyundai Electric employees participated in a 'plogging' volunteer activity, walking along Jujeon Beach in Dong-gu, Ulsan, collecting discarded plastics, household waste, and seaweed from the coastline.
Plogging is a newly coined term referring to an environmental protection activity that involves picking up litter while walking or jogging.
On this day, Hyundai Electric employees divided the approximately 1 km stretch of Jujeon Beach into three zones and collected about 340 bags, each weighing around 80 kg, of seaweed and waste over four hours.
A Hyundai Electric representative stated, "This plogging volunteer activity was conducted as part of our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management efforts," adding, "We plan to continue environmental cleanup activities that contribute to enhancing biodiversity in the local area."
