[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] As of 8 a.m., the cumulative early voting rate in the Gyeongbuk region for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections stands at 13.35%.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 8 a.m. on the second day of early voting for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections and the by-election for the National Assembly on the 28th, out of 44,303,449 eligible voters at 3,551 early voting stations nationwide, 437,107 people participated in early voting, resulting in a national average early voting rate of 0.99%. The cumulative number of early voters is 4,945,976, with a cumulative early voting rate of 11.16%.
In Gyeongbuk, 25,877 out of 2,268,707 total voters at 331 polling stations have voted, recording a voting rate of 1.14%. This is 0.11 percentage points higher than the 1.03% voting rate at the same time during the 7th local elections. Nationwide, it is the third highest early voting rate following Jeonnam (1.45%) and Gangwon (1.18%).
Voting rates were recorded as follows: Pohang-si Buk-gu 0.86%, Pohang-si Nam-gu 0.96%, Ulleung-gun 1.77%, Gyeongju-si 1.05%, Gimcheon-si 1.43%, Andong-si 1.09%, Gumi-si 0.85%, Yeongju-si 1.43%, Yeongcheon-si 1.22%, Sangju-si 1.76%.
Mungyeong-si 1.63%, Yecheon-gun 1.35%, Gyeongsan-si 0.72%, Cheongdo-gun 1.44%, Goryeong-gun 1.42%, Seongju-gun 1.39%, Chilgok-gun 0.8%, Gunwi-gun 2.29%, Uiseong-gun 2.35%, Cheongsong-gun 1.69%, Yeongyang-gun 2.25%, Yeongdeok-gun 1.51%, Bonghwa-gun 1.7%, Uljin-gun 1.66%, etc.
The cumulative number of early voters including the first day is 302,795, with a cumulative early voting rate of 13.35%.
Early voting is possible anywhere if you bring a photo ID issued by a public institution such as a resident registration card or youth ID (including mobile ID). General voters can vote from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
COVID-19 confirmed patients and those in quarantine can vote from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and in addition to an ID, they must bring a ‘confirmed patient voting guidance text message’ or similar documentation.
