Gwanak-gu Provides Household Support Services for Pregnant Families

Support for Household Service Costs up to 432,000 KRW for Pregnant Women Families Below 150% of Median Income to Reduce Household Burden and Promote Healthy Births for Mothers and Fetuses

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu announced that it will officially launch a pilot project for housekeeping support services, including cleaning, dishwashing, and laundry, for households with pregnant women expecting childbirth starting in June.

The project, selected as a pilot project under the '2022 Seoul Metropolitan Government Community Service Investment Project,' was planned to reduce the household burden for pregnant women who have difficulty performing household chores due to pregnancy and to support the healthy birth of pregnant women and fetuses.

The support targets are households with pregnant women residing in Gwanak-gu with an income below 150% of the median income. Priority support will be given in the order of ▲high-risk pregnant women ▲multi-child families ▲dual-income families, with no age restrictions. However, users of similar services such as housekeeping and caregiving support projects, veterans' home welfare services, and childcare services are excluded from eligibility.

If selected as a beneficiary, households can receive housekeeping services once a week for 4 hours per session over 2 months. For Grade 1 (basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class / 10% self-payment), government support of 432,000 KRW is provided, and for Grade 2 (recipients below 150% of the median income excluding near-poverty class / 20% self-payment), 384,000 KRW is provided.

The application period is from May 30 to September 16, and it may close early if the budget is exhausted. Households wishing to use the service should bring documents proving pregnancy, such as a pregnancy confirmation certificate or maternity handbook, and visit the local community service center in their residential area to apply.

A district official said, "We hope this project will help families struggling with household chores due to pregnancy," adding, "We will continue to discover and plan various services tailored to local characteristics and demands to improve the quality of life for residents."
