[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, and Kim Dong-yeon, the Democratic Party candidate, each cast their votes in Seongnam and Suwon respectively on the first day of early voting on the 27th, pledging to do their best until the very last moment to secure victory.
Candidate Kim Eun-hye voted around 6:20 a.m. at the polling station set up on the 4th floor of the Unjung-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, accompanied by her spouse, lawyer Yoo Hyung-dong.
After voting, Kim said, "This is a contest that can be decided by 100 or 200 votes. Therefore, I cannot waste even a minute or a second, and I feel a sense of urgency every time I meet each person." She added, "I will relentlessly and humbly approach the residents of Gyeonggi Province until the very end."
She continued, "I believe that winning this Gyeonggi Province governor election is the first step toward normalizing Gyeonggi Province," adding, "As a candidate from the ruling party with power, I want to definitely bring victory so that the residents can enjoy a life in Gyeonggi Province where their lives become happier."
Candidate Kim Dong-yeon also voted around 7 a.m. at the polling station set up at the Gwanggyo 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, accompanied by his spouse, Jung Woo-young.
After voting, Kim said, "The Gyeonggi governor election is becoming a barometer for the outcome of local elections nationwide, and with a sense of responsibility, I am igniting my determination to win." He urged, "Since your precious vote will decide the future of Gyeonggi Province and the Republic of Korea, please participate in early voting."
He added, "This is an election to choose workers who will get things done, not political strife," and said, "I trust that the residents will make a good choice by carefully judging who truly holds the right values and direction, can create proper policies, and has the capability to execute them."
