Including Plogging, Digital Drawing, Music Listening, and Map Making Workshops
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Museum of History announced on the 27th that it will operate an interactive program called 'Young Museum' for the 2030 youth generation from June 16 to August 23.
This program is the first of its kind targeting the 2030 generation to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Seoul Museum of History. The museum specially planned it to become a place of diverse experiences for young generations, making it a more friendly and comfortable space. Under the main theme of 'A New Way to Enjoy Seoul,' it is composed of various contents allowing participants to experience Seoul through diverse methods such as plogging ('Plogging Seoul'), design ('Design Seoul'), documentation ('Remember Seoul'), mapping ('Mapping Seoul'), and music appreciation ('Feel Seoul').
In line with the program's purpose, activists from the 2030 generation currently conducting various experiments in Seoul will participate and directly lead the program. From the nonprofit donation startup 'Ita Seoul,' which engages in social contribution activities, to amateur groups like 'Amateur Seoul' and 'Seoul Collection,' who have recorded Seoul from their own perspectives, local activists centered around Seoul, as well as '127,' who have worked on illustrations for various media and brands including You Quiz on the Block, and 'Kim Yoon-ha, popular music critic,' who has reviewed a wide range of music from K-pop to indie, will serve as educators.
Kim Yong-seok, director of the Seoul Museum of History, said, "Our museum, which turned twenty this year, has prepared a new program that young people in their twenties can enjoy together," adding, "Starting with this program, we hope the museum, which has been regarded as boring and old-fashioned by the younger generation, can expand into a more interactive space where people can play, relax, meet, and gain inspiration in their daily lives."
Meanwhile, this program is free of charge and can be applied for participation through the Seoul Museum of History website. Applications open on the homepage two weeks before each session. The recruitment period for the first session, 'Seoul through Trash,' is from the 30th to June 9. The target participants are limited to young people aged 20 to 39 (born between 1984 and 2003) to facilitate sharing and communication among the 2030 generation.
