[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Yang Moon-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Governor of Gyeongnam Province, has launched a sharp criticism against the Democratic Party Central Committee.

On the 26th, Yang held a press conference at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Press Center and unleashed harsh criticism toward the Democratic Party Central Committee.

He said, “The public’s anger toward the Central Committee is sky-high,” adding, “A famous politician from the party visited on the 25th, but I did not meet them, and I will not join hands with the Central Committee going forward.”

Referring to the conflict between co-emergency committee chairs Park Ji-hyun and Yoon Ho-jung, he criticized, “The recent behavior of the Democratic Party Central Committee is very shameful.”

He stated, “I have no intention of benefiting from the Central Committee, including former President Moon Jae-in and candidate Lee Jae-myung,” and added, “After the local elections, the Gyeongnam Democratic Party will take over the Central Committee and completely reform it.”

He also expressed his ambition to produce a party leader from Gyeongnam at the party convention scheduled for August.

He reported that the proposal for candidate unification with Justice Party candidate Yeo Young-guk was rejected among the working-level staff.

He said, “I fully understand that candidate Yeo, who is the party leader, recognizes the importance of a multi-party system,” and added, “We, who share the same stance on policies that can change the lives of residents such as airport, water supply, electricity, railway privatization, and radioactive contamination issues, must bring about a new resolution.”

Regarding candidate Park Wan-su, he criticized that since the inauguration of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, he has not responded to issues about public institution privatization and nuclear power plant radioactive contamination.

He claimed, “At the debate on the 23rd, I asked candidate Park two questions, but he avoided them by saying to only ask about his pledges.”

He also said, “The sale of 40% of Incheon Airport shares is the first signal of public institution privatization,” adding, “This will lead to privatization of water, electricity, and railways, forcing ordinary people to bear soaring electricity bills and expensive hospital fees.”

He added, “Japanese radioactive contaminated water will affect the livelihoods of Gyeongnam fishermen, seafood processing industry, fish market merchants, and related self-employed workers,” and warned, “Our children’s dining tables may be stained with radiation.”

Yang appealed for support, saying, “I will not side with power and capital but protect the living grounds of residents and ensure they can maintain a basic life without burden,” and “I will inherit a completely new Gyeongnam designed by Kim Kyung-soo and build a Gyeongnam with strong fundamentals.”
