[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A man in his 20s was arrested for breaking into an apartment without the owner present in broad daylight.

The Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 26th that they had arrested a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of trespassing and attempted theft.

Mr. A is accused of secretly entering an apartment in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, around 1 p.m. on the 26th of last month.

According to the investigation, while he was wandering inside the apartment, he encountered resident Mr. B, who had just returned after taking his eldest daughter to an academy, and fled through the front door.

After receiving the report, the police analyzed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and identified Mr. A on the 7th. He was notified to appear for questioning as a suspect on the 20th.

Initially, the police conducted the investigation without detention, considering that it was not a case requiring forced investigation, and that Mr. A lived with his parents and had a fixed residence. However, during further investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A had loitered near Mr. B’s apartment three times the day before the crime, leading to the application for an arrest warrant.

Accordingly, the court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 25th.

The police are currently investigating whether Mr. A has committed additional crimes.
