[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan Ulju-gun has decided to take active administrative support measures to minimize drought damage during the farming season.
According to the county, as of the 20th, the average water storage rate of agricultural reservoirs nationwide is 70.7%, which is generally good, but in the past two months, the rainfall has been less than about 50% of the average, causing difficulties in supplying agricultural water.
Accordingly, the county plans to operate equipment such as water trucks and excavators from the end of this month until the drought is resolved.
In addition, to ensure smooth supply of agricultural water, the county is expanding hydraulic facilities including well development, installation of pumping stations, and dredging of reservoirs, and is also maintaining pumping facilities at existing wells and pumping stations.
Farmers who need equipment support such as water trucks can apply through each eup and myeon to the county's Agricultural Policy Division to receive support.
A county official said, "We will continuously monitor the reservoir water storage rate to prepare for drought, and in areas where agricultural water supply is critically low, we will minimize crop drought damage by urgently developing wells and installing temporary water pipelines."
