Byeongno Lee, Democratic Party Candidate for Damyang County Governor, Announces Plan to Create a "Wealthy Rural Damyang" Byeongno Lee, Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Damyang County governor.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] As the official campaign for the June 1 local elections enters its mid-phase, Lee Byeongno, candidate for Damyang County Governor, who is actively engaging with voters through on-site campaigns in each electoral district, has been unveiling key pledges daily to capture voter support.

On the 25th, coinciding with the Changpyeong market day, Lee Byeongno, candidate for Damyang County Governor, presented the top priority agricultural pledge among the six major campaign promises at the joint Democratic Party rally held at Changpyeong Market, proposing to create a "prosperous and wealthy rural community."

Since the agricultural population in Damyang County accounts for 30% of the total industrial population, he envisions building a "prosperous and wealthy rural community" through innovation in the agricultural sector.

To this end, Lee stated that he plans to increase the current agricultural budget, which remains in the 20% range at around 130 billion KRW, to the 30% range, raising it to approximately 180 billion KRW, and to continuously expand support to overcome the agricultural crisis.

Lee diagnosed, "Although Damyang’s agricultural products, from the clean ecological city, are recognized for their top quality, recent climate change, various agricultural environmental changes, and the aging agricultural population have brought new crises, making urgent preparations for a 'wealthy rural community' necessary."

He promised measures including "the establishment of advanced horticultural complexes integrating ICT technology, expansion of production bases through the dissemination of eco-friendly rice cultivation techniques, cultivation of high-income crops responsive to climate change, expansion of support for smart advanced livestock facilities, and the construction of a rural convergence support center" to overcome these crises.

Additionally, he emphasized, "We will promote the establishment of an eco-friendly agricultural product distribution platform to expand domestic distribution networks and exports of Damyang agricultural products, and support R&D for developing new varieties of strategic crops such as strawberries."

Lee stated, "Agriculture in Damyang, the ecological and cultural garden city, will undergo a major transformation from traditional agriculture focused solely on harvesting and sales to a sixth industrial complex that integrates production, manufacturing, processing, and tourism. Through this, we will create a wealthy, rejuvenated, and sustainable rural community."

He added, "Having designed Damyang’s future food resources through 40 years of public service and laid the foundation for Korea’s representative ecological city as an administrative expert, I will leverage my experience to realize a ‘New Millennium Damyang’ where all 50,000 Damyang residents are happy."
