[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] It was confirmed on the 26th that former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who lost in the ruling party primary for the Gyeonggi Province governor in the June 1 local elections, is releasing a new book and will hold a publication event in early next month. The book, titled "Clash with the Instinct of a Beast," spans a total of 400 pages. Yoo is known to have prepared for this book over a long period.

The book reportedly contains stories about Yoo's school days, his entry into politics, and recent updates on his life. Yoo faced many difficulties in his political career following the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye. Later, he ran as a candidate in the People Power Party's 20th presidential primary but did not achieve satisfactory results. At that time, he had a major confrontation with President Yoon Seok-yeol during a debate, and after the primary, he was rarely seen in public.

Moreover, his defeat in the primary after running as a preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor was particularly painful. Yoo, who lost to former lawmaker Kim Eun-hye, who was President-elect Yoon's spokesperson, in the party member vote, posted on his Facebook at the time, saying, "It was a primary that was neither fair nor reasonable. Though I was struck by an assassin's blade, it is an honor for a general to fall on the battlefield," and added, "I will find a new path to serve the country I love."

Yoo, an economist and former member of the Korea Development Institute (KDI), also presents his views on the economy and welfare in this book. Previously, Yoo published a book titled "Growing by Sharing" last month. That book sought answers to the widening economic gap in Korea and addressed issues related to conglomerates. A representative from the publishing company said, "We finalized the book today and will proceed to printing immediately," adding, "The first edition is scheduled to be published in early next month."
