Starting to Target the US Market Through GenesBio
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] RF Semi, a semiconductor device specialist company, announced on the 26th that its 'Far UVC Light' lighting, which removes viruses while being harmless to the human body, has obtained UL certification in the United States and is launching an attack on the U.S. market.
RF Semi's Far UVC lamp (model names: Lavender 222 / SANA 222) features a 222nm ultraviolet wavelength, which is shorter than that of typical sterilizers, providing high sterilization power while being safe for humans.
It can be easily installed anywhere desired by applying fixtures such as ceiling mounts, operates with 10W power for up to 10,000 hours, and allows usage time monitoring and control through a smartphone app.
Having obtained the essential UL certification for selling products in the U.S., RF Semi is actively commercializing sales in the U.S. market in cooperation with Ghenusbio, a U.S. sterilization lamp specialist company.
The UL certification is a product approval (UL Listed) for end consumers to purchase and use, not just component approval (UL RU), making it the world's first 222nm wavelength product that can be continuously used in low-level areas. Ghenusbio has already placed initial orders and is actively conducting sales to large hospitals and schools in the U.S.
Recently, after completing a three-month performance evaluation in the sterile preparation room of a large hospital in LA (Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital), the product is scheduled to be supplied.
As a product capable of inactivating the COVID-19 virus, the 222nm Far UVC lamp, which enables continuous sterilization, has attracted attention, and RF Semi's product was introduced on CBS News, one of the three major U.S. broadcasters, on the 9th.
An RF Semi official said, "Due to the pandemic situation, the U.S. temporarily allowed sales of UVC products without UL certification," adding, "However, since only UL-certified products will be allowed for sale in the future, we expect active product sales."
He also added, "Because it can kill viruses but is harmless to humans, it can be used not only in residential spaces but also in offices, commercial facilities, hospitals, schools, and other places where people gather closely," and "We will actively pursue global market expansion as well as the Korean market."
RF Semi is accelerating its overseas market expansion by sending related samples to Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Spain, Chile, and other regions for export to Europe and the Middle East.
