Cheongam University Launches Field-Practice Medical Volunteer Service!

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Cheongam University (Acting President Oh Mi-seong) announced on the 25th that it participated as a key player in community education service in two sports events hosted by the Jeollanam-do Sports Council and organized by Suncheon City and the Jeonnam Sports Competition Organizing Committee this year, fully demonstrating its status as a regional medical hub university.

Following the 30th Jeonnam Disabled Sports Competition held from the 11th to the 13th at various venues including Suncheon Palma Sports Complex, nursing and emergency medical technician students volunteered at the 61st Jeonnam Sports Competition held from the 20th to the 23rd, contributing to smooth and safe events.

This competition featured 24 events such as athletics and swimming, held as city and county competitions with over 7,000 athletes and officials from 22 cities and counties participating.

The event was especially meaningful as it was held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19.

Under the slogan "Let's go to Suncheon! Let's enjoy the Jeonnam Sports Competition," the event concluded with Suncheon City winning the overall championship.

Despite the COVID-19 situation, the Jeonnam Sports Council was praised for successfully holding the competition by strictly adhering to quarantine rules and the dedicated participation of volunteers.

The 85 nursing students who participated on-site, practicing safety management and medical service, said this experience provided them with an opportunity to directly learn and apply practical medical skills such as medical personnel deployment and treatment of mild to moderate patients.

Seo Ji-hye, head of the Department of Nursing, expressed her thoughts, saying, "I am glad that the sports festival held amid the COVID-19 situation was successful, and I will continue to strive to expand volunteer opportunities to contribute to community medical practice."
