Addressing Issues from Medical Subjects and Providers to Health Insurance Fees
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution announced on the 25th that it will hold a policy seminar on the "Institutionalization Direction of Non-face-to-face Medical Treatment" with the National Academy of Medicine of Korea at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Yeouido on the 26th.
As the government temporarily allowed non-face-to-face medical treatment due to COVID-19, public awareness of the need for non-face-to-face medical treatment has increased. Legislative movements are active, with bills related to non-face-to-face medical treatment being proposed in the National Assembly.
This policy seminar will begin with an explanation of the seminar's background by Song Kyung-hee, head of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee, followed by a keynote presentation by Professor Kim Heon-seong of the Catholic University College of Medicine (secretary of the National Academy of Medicine of Korea's Special Committee on Telemedicine), and proceed with panel discussions involving experts from the medical community, industry, patient groups, legal circles, and government.
The keynote presentation will diagnose and evaluate the domestic and international progress of non-face-to-face medical treatment and its current status, and propose consensus points on major issues related to non-face-to-face medical treatment. This is because stakeholders have sharply differing positions on the scope of non-face-to-face medical treatment, the medical providers, medical staff responsibility and exemption, and health insurance fees.
This seminar will also be conducted via a YouTube live broadcast that allows real-time communication.
