[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jung-wan] Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok said that Park Ji-hyun, co-chair of the Democratic Party's emergency committee, aimed her proposals for overcoming low approval ratings?'ending fandom politics' and 'retirement of the 586 generation'?at Lee Jae-myung, the general election committee chairman, and Yoon Ho-jung, the emergency committee chairman.
On the 24th, on YTN Radio's 'Lee Jae-yoon's News Face-off,' former lawmaker Jeon commented on Park's 'appeal to the public,' stating, "The person corresponding to the 586 retirement theory is Chairman Yoon, so there will be no echo at all, and naturally, no effect."
He added, "You have to be on the same page to do something like this, but as soon as it came out, Chairman Yoon said, 'This is Chairman Park's personal opinion,'" and pointed out, "Democratic Party members and the general public are seeing this as 'What? The emergency committee chairman and the floor leader are not even coordinated; this is a very absurd situation.'"
He continued, "It has created a situation where internal strife within the Democratic Party is intensifying," and said, "The 586 generation is a setting sun; unless all of them resign from their parliamentary seats and step down as an extreme remedy, it won't work."
He further criticized, "Chairman Park said she would 'break away from fandom parties,' but the Democratic Party has become a fandom party with a single menu called 'Gae-ddal'?the reform daughters of Lee Jae-myung's father and Lee Jae-myung himself," adding, "It has become a restaurant that only sells Lee Jae-myung."
Meanwhile, Chairman Lee responded to Park's public appeal by saying, "I understand it as a call for the Democratic Party's reflection and reform, and I fully agree," but drew a line by stating, "I caution against any further overinterpretation."
