[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] North Korea launched ballistic missiles immediately after U.S. President Joe Biden's trip to South Korea and Japan.


This provocation by North Korea is the 17th military demonstration this year. It comes 13 days after firing three short-range ballistic missiles, presumed to be 'super-large multiple rocket launchers' (the North Korean term for multiple launch rockets), in the Sunan area of Pyongyang on the 12th.

▲January 27 morning = Test launch of two short-range ballistic missiles KN-23 from Hamhung area, South Hamgyong Province toward the East Sea.

▲January 30 morning = Launch of intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) 'Hwasong-12' from Mupyong-ri area, Jagang Province toward the East Sea.

▲February 27 morning = Launch of one ICBM 'Hwasong-17' development ballistic missile from Sunan Airport area, Pyongyang toward the East Sea.

▲March 5 morning = Launch of one ICBM 'Hwasong-17' development ballistic missile from Sunan Airport area, Pyongyang toward the East Sea.

▲March 16 morning = Failed launch of one ICBM 'Hwasong-17' development ballistic missile from Sunan Airport area, Pyongyang.

▲March 20 morning = Launch of four multiple rocket launchers from Sukchon area, South Pyongan Province toward the West Sea.

▲March 24 afternoon = Test launch of one ICBM 'Hwasong-15' from Sunan International Airport area, Pyongyang toward the East Sea.

▲April 16 afternoon = Test launch of two tactical ballistic missiles (new tactical guided weapons) from Hamhung area, South Hamgyong Province toward the East Sea.

▲May 4 afternoon = Launch of one ballistic missile presumed to be an ICBM from Sunan Airport area, Pyongyang toward the East Sea.

▲May 7 afternoon = Launch of one ballistic missile presumed to be an SLBM from Sinpo area, South Hamgyong Province.

▲May 12 afternoon = Launch of three short-range ballistic missiles presumed to be 'super-large multiple rocket launchers' (KN-25) from Sunan Airport area, Pyongyang toward the East Sea.
