[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it is recruiting safety and health managers to secure expertise and fully operate the Serious Accident Prevention Team (I-Park Accident Response Support Group), newly established for the first time in Gwangju.
The Serious Accident Prevention Team was established last March to prevent and promptly respond to serious accidents involving district office employees and construction projects promoted by the district, following the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act and the collapse accident at I-Park in Hwajeong-dong.
It also promotes tasks to prevent industrial and citizen accidents, such as establishing safety and health management systems, preparing procedures for serious accident prevention tasks, managing compliance with legal obligations, and formulating measures to prevent recurrence of serious accidents.
Seo-gu plans to respond and prevent serious accidents more systematically and professionally by hiring safety and health managers.
To this end, on the 16th, Seo-gu announced the appointment examination and will hire one safety manager and one health manager, each performing duties prescribed in the Safety and Health Management Regulations, as local fixed-term public officials.
The application period is from the 7th to the 9th of next month.
A Seo-gu official said, “Taking the I-Park accident as a lesson, we are doing our best to create a safe working environment for everyone and a safe Seo-gu for citizens,” and added, “We ask for the public’s great interest and support.”
